From the recording A Bend in the Light
I was experimenting with dark, textured acoustic guitar tones and I found some that really resonated with my more negative moods. Lyrically I was able to dig a little deeper and liberate from them as I sang and wrote. After the opening vocal lines there is an indian drum played along with a bassy picked guitar that is representative of confinement, uncertainty and isolation . The discordant strums probe and chisel out an escape. I then cut in hard with the vocal, pushing with all my might toward the surface. For production I wanted a psychedelic, somewhat Pink Floydian electric guitar tone added to the instrumental areas as well as Taiko-styled drums.

Lyrics
All along there’s been enough to see
Collapsing down into me
I thought, I thought it all would leave
I guess this is where I’ll have to be
Down deep, I need to put this all underneath
The storm that turns, it turns to take the love from me
I didn’t even bother then now it seem I can return
Looking Up Above, to see up above
Up above the water, to see above the water
Take the start
Take the lonely beginning
Every heart not true, unright
Find the love the light that burns inside
Looking up, Looking up to find
To see above the water, up above the water
Looking up, Looking up to find
To see above the water, up above the water
Now you’re looking up
Now you’re looking up
Looking up to find
Looking up to find
The storm came up, phantom with a sigh
